Leader In Me

We are proud to be a "Leader in Me" school, teaching our students the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, which are essential skills for success in school and in life. Here are the Seven Habits and how you can help reinforce these habits at home.

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People:

  1. Be Proactive: Take responsibility for your actions and choices.
  2. Begin with the End in Mind: Set goals and make a plan to achieve them.
  3. Put First Things First: Prioritize your time and focus on what's most important.
  4. Think Win-Win: Look for ways to collaborate and find solutions that benefit everyone.
  5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Listen to others and try to see things from their perspective before sharing your own.
  6. Synergize: Work together to achieve common goals and create something greater than you could alone.
  7. Sharpen the Saw: Take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to be your best self.

Here are some ways parents can help:

  1. Model the Habits: Children learn by example, so make an effort to model the 7 Habits in your own life. Talk about how you apply the habits to your own work, relationships, and personal goals.
  2. Encourage Independence: Help your child develop a sense of responsibility and independence by encouraging them to make choices and take ownership of their actions. Support them in setting and achieving their goals.
  3. Prioritize Time: Help your child learn to prioritize their time by setting routines, establishing schedules, and creating to-do lists. Teach them to focus on what's most important and to avoid distractions.
  4. Teach Collaboration: Encourage your child to work with others to solve problems and achieve goals. Teach them to communicate effectively, listen actively, and find win-win solutions.
  5. Practice Empathy: Help your child develop empathy by encouraging them to listen to others, see things from different perspectives, and understand how their actions impact others.
  6. Promote Teamwork: Help your child learn the importance of working together by engaging them in group activities and projects. Encourage them to share ideas and support each other.
  7. Take Care of Yourself: Model self-care habits for your child, such as exercise, mindfulness, and healthy eating. Encourage them to take breaks, rest when needed, and take care of their own physical and emotional needs.
