Ways for Parents to Get Involved at Hardy

Parental involvement plays a crucial role in a child's educational journey. When parents actively participate in their child's school life, it not only enhances their academic experience but also strengthens the overall school community.

Volunteer in Classrooms:

One of the most direct ways parents can contribute is by volunteering in classrooms. Teachers often appreciate the extra help with activities like reading to students, assisting with projects, or organizing materials. By spending time in the classroom, parents can gain insight into their child's learning environment and foster a positive connection with teachers.

Volunteer During Mileage Club Each Morning:

Mileage Club promotes fitness and healthy habits among students. Parents can contribute by volunteering during these morning sessions, where students accumulate mileage by running or walking around the field. Parents can help with tracking distances and cheering students on.

Attend Family Fridays and Coffee with the Principal:

Held usually the first or second Friday every couple months. Please check the calendar and weekly email updates from the Principal for more information.

Join School Site Council:

The School Site Council (SSC) is a decision-making group that provides oversight on matters dealing with Federal and State funded programs.

School Site Councils provide oversight of the academic planning and budgeting process associated with the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) in order to meet the needs of all students. SSCs provide meaningful consultation with the principal to oversee the implementation, monitoring, and revision of the SPSA, including reviewing and analyzing data; consulting with advisory groups; evaluating programs and activities; and allocating the expenditure of funds available to the school through categorical programs.

Join School Governance Team:

School Governance Teams operate at a higher level, overseeing the strategic direction and overall management of the school. By joining this team, parents can participate in discussions on curriculum development, resource allocation, and school-wide initiatives, providing valuable input and advocating for the best interests of students and the school community.

Volunteer for Morning or Afternoon Traffic Circle:

Assisting with morning or afternoon traffic flow ensures the safety of students during drop-off and pick-up times. By volunteering for traffic circle duties, parents help maintain an organized and secure environment, promoting smooth transitions for students arriving or leaving school.

Chaperone a Field Trip:

Field trips offer unique learning opportunities beyond the classroom walls. Parents can offer their time to chaperone these excursions, ensuring student safety, and actively participating in the educational experience. By accompanying students on field trips, parents can deepen their understanding of their child's education and build stronger connections with classmates and teachers.
